Yes, you are looking at a photo of dad spelled out in groundnut husks.
Well, I’ll start with how I’m a super mega huge fan of boiled groundnuts. The crack, the crunch, the taste just give me life. Every year, a massive festival goes on in my heart in honour of the first nuts of the season. No jokes, evidence below:

So I was going through a daily Guardian news update and this article caught my eye. Why? I saw these three words: me, before, and you.
Nothing incredible about them, right? But in that order, they form the title of a book that touched my heart. I read Me Before You almost two years ago, and it touched me so deeply I blogged about it here. So, of course I clicked on the link thinking, ‘What are they saying about the book now?‘ Continue reading

Yesterday, 2 years to the day the Chibok girls were kidnapped, there was special coverage of the events surrounding the incident on CNN
And this is what the Spirit says to me (and possibly someone else out there):
“God is in charge of the great meeting; he judges among the “gods.” He says, “How long will you defend evil people? How long will you show greater kindness to the wicked? Defend the weak and the orphans; defend the rights of the poor and suffering. Save the weak and helpless; free them from the power of the wicked. “You know nothing. You don’t understand. You walk in the dark, while the world is falling apart. I said, ‘You are “gods.” You are all sons of God Most High.’ But you will die like any other person; you will fall like all the leaders.” God, come and judge the earth, because you own all the nations.”
Psalms 82:1-8 (NCV)
“…. But they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” 2 Corinthians 10:12 (NKJV)
I’ve had this topic in my mind to write about for a while now. I had just picked up my computer to start, when a young girl asked me a question that so perfectly tied in with the thoughts in my head. Here’s how the conversation went:
She asked, “Who came first in your class?” read the rest of the convo

I first heard about Otto Orondaam and Slum2School in 2011. We happened to serve in the same NYSC batch. S2S was his service year project. I was so inspired by his passion and work. If you don’t know what S2S is/does, please click on the link to find out. Find out how you can support the cause
Every kinky-haired sister out there knows that shrinkage is real! Too real! And a lot of us turn to blow-drying to give us some respite from that particular issue. It took me a while to finally get round to blow-drying my hair, and I saved it for a special occasion. It was my graduation! Whoopeedoo! It was sometime around my 2nd-year post-relaxer anniversary. I had decided to do a flat twist-out style I had seen on YouTube (I can’t find the specific video I watched, but there a ton of tutorials out there; just Google). And I thought to blow-dry my hair to get added length. So, I went for it. Continue reading
We go way back, my dad and me 😀 . Yeah, I know you just rolled your eyes. But we do! Right from the time he stood over my cot protecting my hour-old self from mosquitoes. Yup, he did that. It’s been over 2 decades now and it’s been a series of interesting experiences.
Long story short. He calls it as he sees it. He’s genuine through and through. He doesn’t let me cut myself slack. And encourages me to keep my head up.
So I’d like to salute possibly the strongest man I know. Cheers to a great father! 😀
And of course the day wouldn’t be complete without celebrating my Heavenly Father– a father like no other, the most awesome, the greatest the best! He who makes everything worth it is truly worthy of all glory. His care is mind-blowing! :-*
Hope y’all are celebrating your dads too 😉 If not, it’s not too late, a card isn’t too little.
Now, all I’m waiting for is brothers’ day. 😀 😉

I subscribe to a newsletter from New Release Tuesday (a wonderful Christian resource website). It’s a great way to keep up-to-date with Christian music. They also give free weekly downloads. Which is how I came across J Han – a very interesting rapper. Who led me to AMP Movement – a Christian music collective, Which, in turn, led me to the topic of today – Sam Ock. Listen to some awesome music
Recently in my church, there was a seminar on making healthy substitutes to processed snacks. Why? They are mostly high in all kinds of things you really don’t want in your body; eg processed sugars, sodium and/or weird unpronouncable chemicals. And don’t we all love to snack? I know I do – -a packet of plantain chips here, some sweet popcorn there, and don’t even get me started on mt love for chocolate Digestives. But lately, I’ve become more aware of my body and I am making a conscious effort to take care of it. After all, my body is the Temple of the Most High. So, I’ve been trying to make a concerted effort to eat healthy. Make you own chips!
